Abstract

Soil fungi play roles in decomposition processes that mineralize and recycle plant nutrients. In the soil, fungi interact with a complex microbial community that includes: bacteria, actinomycetes (actinobacterias) and small invertebrates. Fungi are an important part of the food chain in the soil, mainly for mesofauna living in the soil (Bonkowski et al., 2000). This evaluation consisted in collecting soil samples, leaves and logs in different areas of the province of Los Santos, isolating fungi for use as biological control against microorganisms such as dog ticks (Rhipicephalus sanguineus) and weevils (Curculionidae), It is concluded that there is a great diversity of fungi for biological control.
