Discurso y formación integral: Producción de sentido de un texto educativo fundacional
Keywords:
Social service, university extension, Discourse analysisAbstract
In recent years, a transdisciplinary working area, in which educational and language sciences converge,
has emerged. This convergence allows to study what institutions say and know about themselves
(discourse) and how these sayings guide their praxis and formation. The present article examines—
through the means of discourse analysis and the support of etnographic interviews—the document
“Servicio Social para Licenciaturas” [Social Services for Undergraduate Studies], which guide
the undergraduate social service at Universidad Católica Santa María la Antigua (USMA, Panamá),
and the knowledges and social, cultural and institutional contexts that give it sense, characterizing
it as a fundamental activity for the integral formation given by this university.
