Abstract

The number of articles related to university management has multiplied this century; this is primarily due to the need to certify the quality or accreditation of higher education institutions. The social transformation at this time has promoted the generation of university management models. However, most lack theoretical support, so they do not represent solutions that can transcend and can at least be applied in their generalities. As an alternative, Luhmann's Systems Theory is proposed as a basis for constructing a university management model. The following article aims to review the literature focused on presenting some models of university management that have shown results according to the needs and context in Latin America and the challenge facing the Specialized University of the Americas (UDELAS) in Panama.
